Daily Thought for Tuesday December 6th

December 6, 2011

At The Heart of the Matter

Today’s Thought:

“If you haven’t got any charity [love for others] in your heart, you have the worst kind of heart trouble.” – Bop Hope

Today’s Quotes:

“The human heart is vast enough to contain all the world.– Joseph Conrad

“Nobody has ever measured, even the poets, how much a heart can hold.” – Zelda Fitzgerald

Today’s Question:

Would you be willing to take this challenge: “You should do something that will make your heart dance once a day: If you can’t do that, then do something that will make somebody else’s heart dance?” – Yoko Ono

Today’s Bible Verses:          Proverbs 4:23,  Matthew 6:19-21 &  Matthew 12:33-35

Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:  But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:  For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit.  O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.

Today’s Spiritual Thought:

“If the harte iz rite, the hed can’t be very rong.” – Josh Billings

The heart of the matter is this: if we are among the blood bought, redeemed children of God then our heart should belong to Him and Him alone.

“Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying, Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.”  - The Bible (Matthew 22:35-39)

Our focus, duty, attention and all our efforts should be to please Him and live our life for His glory.

“Our heart is the sanctuary where the Lord of the universe dwells in all His glory.” –Swami Ramdas

When someone accepts God’s gift of salvation – we often refer to this as he/she giving his or her heart to God.

The heart is essential to life, when it stops working life ends.  The heart is also essential to our relationship with God, if it is not His then we are not His.

Today’s Prayer:

Father thank you that I know that I have Jesus living down in my heart and that He is there to stay.  May my treasure always be focused on the things of your kingdom and may my efforts always be to bring you glory.

“Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.”
- The Bible (Matthew 5:8)
