Enthusiasm

Today’s Thought:

“Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

Today’s Question

Has your ability to get up and go, go, go for it, got up and gone, gone, gone?

Today’s Spiritual Thought:

“We act as though comfort and luxury were the chief requirements of life, when all that we need to make us really happy is something to be enthusiastic about.” – Charles Kingsley (quoted in Reader’s Digest)

As Christians, isn’t it time that we put a little ‘zippity do dah in our ding-dong day?”

I don’t know about you but I find it annoying to look at a room full of Christians and see a pack of people who look like they have been sucking on a basket of sour lemons for the past six weeks.

We have so much to celebrate, rejoice over and get excited about; yet we act like we have a bad case of lice dripping off of us and we have lost our last friend in the world.

We were lost, dying on our way to hell, but Jesus stepped in washed our sins away, gave us life and promised a new home in Heaven.

We act like nobody loves us and we haven’t a friend in the world.

God loves us so much, He sent Jesus; who loved us so much He died in our place and we have in Him a friend that sticks closer than a brother that will never leave us or forsake us. (No matter how much of a gloomy-gus we attempt to be.)

We act like we have to carry the weight of this terrible, horrible, no good, very bad world on our shoulders, but He tells us to cast our cares on Him and to take His yoke for it is easy and His burden is light.

We give the impression that we are in deep despair with misery and pain and that we have let a deep dark depression all our joy to drain.

We have a promise that the end is near and He has gone to prepare a place for us that where He is we can be too and He has promised to return for us and call us to be with Him soon and very soon.

We act like we have been beaten down, left for dead and are totally defeated.

But the truth is we are more than conquerors; we are overcomes not only in this life, but we are on the winning side and we will rule and reign with Him for all eternity.

Now, I ask you, don’t’ you think we have enough going for us that we should be able to muster up a little enthusiasm, put a smile on our face and rejoice and again I say rejoice?

So let’s see a little yippie ki yi and a whole lot of yeah, yeah, yeah as we go out to show the world why we have hope; why we are Christian and why they too should want to be that way.

Today’s Verses:

Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the Lord is your strength.
Nehemiah 8:10

A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.
          Proverbs 15:13

Rejoice in the Lord, O ye righteous: for praise is comely for the upright.
                    Psalm 33:1

Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord…
                  Philippians 3:1(a)

Today’s Prayer:

Father, may I be so excited that I want to go tell everybody that Jesus Christ is my Lord, my Savior and my friend and He wants to be theirs too.
