Prozac for the Soul

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.”
– The Bible (Philippians 4:6)

Today’s Thought:

”Any concern to small to be turned into a prayer is to small to be made into a burden ” Corrie ten Boom

Today’s Question

Have you ever felt like this: “I do not want the peace which passeth understanding. I want the understanding which bringeth peace?” – Helen Keller

Today’s Spiritual Thought:

“And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind. For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things. But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
The Bible (Luke 12:29-31)

What is Prozac?

Clinically speaking from a scientific or medical perspective it is”

FLUOXETINE (floo OX e teen) belongs to a class of drugs known as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs).

And what is it for?

The weekly capsules can treat mood problems.

So what relevance does this have to us from a spiritual perspective?

Really the drug itself has no relevance but rather is a point of referential implication for our purposes.

People who take Prozac need assistance to stabilize their moods or to help them cope with their reality.

As Christians sometimes we find ourselves in need of something to help us cope with or deal with our realities.

I content that the Prozac for the soul is prayer and communion with God.

“Here are five keys to fulfillment: Obey the great God; dream great dreams; plan great plans; pray great prayers; claim great victories.”  - Unknown

The reality, spiritually speaking is this; Only He can satisfy your soul; only He can bring you peace and contentment; only He can bring you joy and fulfillment.

And the most sure-fired way you can connect with Him is to talk to Him by praying or hearing from Him by reading His word.

Everyone needs a little help sometimes and if you need a little something extra to help you make it though the day, - a good dose of God-time will work wonders.

Today’s Verses:

And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.  For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
                        2 Corinthians 12:7-9

So they read in the book in the law of God distinctly, and gave the sense, and caused them to understand the reading. And Nehemiah, which is the Tirshatha, and Ezra the priest the scribe, and the Levites that taught the people, said unto all the people, This day is holy unto the Lord your God; mourn not, nor weep. For all the people wept, when they heard the words of the law. Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the Lord is your strength.
Nehemiah 8:8-10

Today’s Prayer:

Father, when I find myself feeling out of touch, a little down or maybe even a lot desperate may I remember you are only as far away as the mention of your name and I need only call out to you and you will have what I need to see me through.
