G.P.S. and Prayer
What Do They Have In Common

It almost goes without saying that prayer is vital to spiritual living and growth. But then what could the concept of a GPS have to do with prayer?
It is a metaphorical analogy. What is a GPS? Simply put it is a global positioning system. You can tell it where you are and ask it for directions on how to get to where you need to go. It will then give you turn-by-turn instructions on the best way to get to where you are going. In some ways prayer is like that. You go to God, acknowledging to Him where you are and seeking directions on how to get to where He wants you to go. God then is always accurately willing to give you the exact steps you need to take in order for you to best accomplish His will and for you to get to where He wants to take you. Sadly most of us are better at following the directions of a GPS which can sometimes make mistakes than we are willing to follow God who never makes mistakes.
God always has the best and right way, even if it does take us through a storm or two and across a few rough roads, He knows what we need before we can even realize, or at least admit, we need to ask for His guidance
Prayer is a vital tool in our journey of life and without it we would certainly be frequently lost and going the wrong way on many one way streets, so to speak. To be at our most effective, most efficient and to be ultimately successful; it is imperative that we employ prayer as one of our tools for successful Christian living.

Abraham Lincoln had the right insight into this concept when he stated, “I have been driven many times to my knees by overwhelming conviction that I had nowhere else to go. My own wisdom, and that of all about me, seemed insufficient for the day.”

Today’s Prayer:
Father, help me to remember that though I once was lost, now I am found and if I will walk with you, talk with you and listen to you each day I will never wonder or go astray.
