The Beauty, Love, Perception Triangle
“For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:”
– The Bible (Colossians 1:16)
“In the beginning God created…- … And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good”
– The Bible (from Genesis Chapter One)
Today’s Thought:
”Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” – Margaret Hungerford
Today’s Question
When you think of beauty do you contemplate the reality that regardless of their appearance, “Things are beautiful if you love them?” – Jean Anouilh
Today’s Spiritual Thought:
“ Beauty without virtue is a flower without perfume.”
- (A French Proverb)
“Love is a great beautifier.”
- Louisa May Alcott
One man’s perception of beauty might be another’s definition of ugly; often it depends on the relationship we have with the object we are beholding that defines the beauty it may hold for us.
So then what determines beauty from a spiritual perspective?
“Beauty is eternity giving itself in a mirror.” – Kahlil Gibran
God is the only truly eternal being. He has always been, is and will always be; so then we might conclude from this that God is the perfect definition of beauty.
Where does that leave us, in the beauty department, when it comes to spiritual matters?
Well, first we are sinful creatures, born into sin and thus, since God cannot look on sine, we are initially ugly, spiritually speaking.
However, when the blood of Jesus is applied to our hearts: our sins are covered by the blood we become a thing of beauty in the eyes of our Creator.
Since love made this makeover possible, it might be safe to say without love we could never be beautiful in the eyes of God. Aren’t you glad love conquered sin and death and Jesus made it possible for us to be beautiful?
But there is more to being beautiful than just appearances. How we live our lives also affects our status of beauty.
R. Buckminster Fuller had a good outlook on how we should approach our daily living. He wrote, “When I am working on a problem, I never think about beauty. I think only how to solve the problem. But when I have finished, if the solution is not beautiful, I know it is wrong.”
If the solutions to the problems of our lives are not beautiful they are not of God and they are wrong. Everything we do should reflect His grace, His mercy, His love and His presence in us. If it dos not it detracts from the beautiful creation we are intended to be.
So if you want to be the most beautiful and a vision of excellence in the eyes of your Heavenly Father, you must allow your life to be a mirrored reflection of Him.
Today’s Verses:
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness. Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.
Matthew 23:27-28
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do. Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
Hebrews 4:12-16
And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
Romans 10:15
Today’s Prayer:
Father, you are so beautiful to me – please help me be beautiful to thee in purity, holiness, obedience and service.
