The Truth about Truth
“Craft must have clothes, but truth loves to go naked.”
- Thomas Fuller
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
John 14:6
Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
John 8:31-32
Someone has said; “Truth needs no memory.” – Anonymous How apropos! If there is no falsehoods or deceptions to be accounted for and that which is being presented is pure and unadulterated truth, then it will not have to be remembered because it just is and will be always there and accurate and right.
However in the world in which we live many believe truth is relative. Relative to one’s perception, experience, feelings at the moment and there is this idea that there is no longer an absolute truth.
I contend that this line of thinking is not fully or totally accurate. There is indeed an absolute truth that transcends all the perceptions, thoughts and ideals of mankind and that truth is God.
Sadly, for many churches today, as well as many Christians, we have not embraced the purity of the truth of God and we have tried to adjust Him to fit our way of thinking or our perceptions, or our expectations.
The fact is God is God, the same yesterday, today and forever, no wavering, shifting or changing: His yes, is yes: His amen, amen and His no does not mean maybe and His truth does not leave room for interpretation or variance; yet it rather should be taken for it’s face value to mean exactly what it says.
For those who would say they are on a quest for the truth: I would say go to God: He is the only absolute truth that you will ever really find.
With humanity, there are varying degrees of truth to be found: but with God truth is truth and there is not variation.
Today’s Prayer
Father, reveal your truth in me, to me and for me.
