God Is
Who is God to you?
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
John 1:1-4
“What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us… Were we able to extract from any man a complete answer to the question, ‘What comes to your mind when you think about God?’ we might predict with certainty the spiritual future of that man.”
- A. W. Tozer
Scripture instructs as that we are to each work out our own salvation before God with a sense of reverence, awe, awareness and yes even fear and trembling. And part of that process requires us to define who we believe God is and what we believe He is capable of doing. But that, in and of itself is not enough: we may say God is awesome, amazing and great and we may declare there is nothing He cannot do: but the real litmus test of our resolve with regards to who God is to us: is what are we willing to allow Him to do in us and through us.
There is nothing, He is not capable of doing: but is there anything we are not willing to let Him do?
Today’s Prayer
Father, you are all and everything and there is nothing that is not doable: may I find myself always yielded, never withholding and ever willing and submissive to everything and anything you wish to do in me, or through me for others.
