When Opportunity Knocks

Today’s Thought:
It is often hard to distinguish between the hard knocks in life and those of opportunity.  – Frederick Phillips

Today’s Quote:

“Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through the experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, vision cleared, ambition inspired, and success achieved.” – Helen Keller

Today’s Question

Have you considered the possibility that: “Real miracles are created by men when they use their God-given courage and intelligence?”     Jean Anouilh

Today’s Bible Verses:                   Revelation 3:20 &  Luke 11:9-10

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

Today’s Spiritual Thought:

The purest ore is produced from the hottest furnace, and the brightest thunderbolt is elicited from the darkest storms.   Charles Caleb Colton

“People seldom see the halting and painful steps by which the most insignificant success is achieved.” – Annie Sullivan

Often, opportunity knocks at our life’s door, but we don’t want to answer or let it in because we fear the changes and the trials and tests this opportunity might bring.  And by doing thus; we often miss out on some of the greatest blessings we might hope to experience.

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:” – The Bible (1 Peter 1:3-7)

Every opportunity that presents itself to us, does not necessarily require hardships, trials or tribulations: but generally speaking, especially when it comes to spiritual growth: those opportunities that take the most out of us give the most to us.

“Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.” – The Bible (1 Peter 4:12-13)

When God sends an opportunity to knock at the door of your heart and life; don’t be afraid to swing the door wide open and welcome it in.  Remember, “The block of granite which was an obstacle in the path of the weak, becomes a steeping stone in the path of the strong.” – Thomas Carlyle

And you can rest assured God will not bring you to, what He will not give you the means, the strength and the courage to get through.

Opportunity may be knocking – Is there anybody home?

Today’s Prayer:

Father, help me to embrace each new opportunity you bring into my life, and may I see it as a chance to grow in faith, grace, wisdom and knowledge of who you are and what you can do in me.
