Feel The Noise
Today’s Thought:
“We like no noise unless we make it ourselves.” – Maria de Rabutin-Chantal
Today’s Quote:
“Noise pollution is a relative thing. In a city, it’s a jet plane taking off. In a monastery, it’s a pen that scratches.” – Robert Orben
Today’s Question
“For children is there any happiness which is not also noise?” – Frederick W. Faber
Today’s Bible Verses: Psalms 66:1-2, Psalms 81:1, Psalms 95:1-3 & Psalms 98:4-6
Make a joyful noise unto God, all ye lands: Sing forth the honour of his name: make his praise glorious.
Sing aloud unto God our strength: make a joyful noise unto the God of Jacob.
O come, let us sing unto the Lord: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms. For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods.
Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise. Sing unto the Lord with the harp; with the harp, and the voice of a psalm. With trumpets and sound of cornet make a joyful noise before the Lord, the King.
Today’s Spiritual Thought:
“Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing.” – The Bible (Psalms 100:1-2)
“Nowadays most men lead lives of noisy desperation.” – James Thurber
Much clamor is made in scriptures about making a noise for the Lord.
As children of God shouldn’t our happiness and joy be somehow connected to the decibel level of the noise we make in our worship and praise?
Least you misunderstand my intentions: I am not suggesting that we all go out into the streets screaming at the top of our lungs: but I am suggesting that we let the actions and deeds of our lives make enough of a disruptive interruption in the static of the status quo of a sin hardened world that our testimony is heard above the roar of complacency, sinfulness, greed and lusts.
Noise is created when air is disturbed.
As Christians we need to disturb our world with examples of Godly living, honest worship and heart felt praise for our God.
We need to be heard; but we can’t be heard if we are sitting in a corner or hidden like a quite little church mouse. We need to roar and rock our world with good vibrations of hope, forgiveness, love and life: which are ours and can be theirs through Christ Jesus our Lord.
The world will never hear if we don’t sound off, shout out and speak up both in words and in deeds.
“Praise ye the Lord. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power. Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness. Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp. Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs. Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals. Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord.” – The Bible (Psalms 150:1-6)
“Come on feel the noise.” – Quiet Riot (Lyrics from ‘Come On Feel The Noise’)
Today’s Prayer:
Father, may my life sing forth your glorious praise in both word and deed at a level and with an intensity that can be heard.
