Accepting The Truth and Nothing But the Truth
As Told By God
Today’s Thought:
“Truth ever lovely - since the world began, the foe of tyrants and the friend of man.” – Thomas Campbell
Today’s Quote:
“The love of truth has its reward in heaven and even on earth.” – Friedrich Nietzsche
Today’s Question:
Have you ever considered when pondering the nature of truth that; “Tis strange – but true: for truth is always strange; Stranger than fiction?” – Lord Byron
Today’s Bible Verses: 2 John 1:2-4, 1 John 3:18-19 & Numbers 23:19
For the truth's sake, which dwelleth in us, and shall be with us for ever. Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love. I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father.
My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him.
God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?
Today’s Spiritual Thought:
“Truth is the beginning of every good thing, both in heaven and on earth; and he who would be blessed and happy should be from the first a partaker of truth, for then he can be trusted." – Plato
“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” - The Bible (John 8:32)
Just as some say, ‘beauty is in the eye of the beholder:’ some would say truth is relative to the perception of any particular individual contingent upon their experience and their point of view. I would say this is wrong. Truth is truth regardless of how we perceive it and with God, unlike with man: truth does not come in shades of gray.
Truth is “The wages of sin are death;” Truth is “Without the shedding of blood there is no remission for sin;” Truth is, there is only one way to get to Heaven and that is by “…calling on the name of the Lord.”
Truth is “If we confess our sins, he will be faithful and just to forgive them;” Truth is we are to “Love our brother as ourselves;” Truth is “If we have a problem with a brother, we need to go and make it right;” Truth is Gods way is the only way that is good and right.
Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr. said, “Truth is tough.” And Pascal said, “We arrive at truth, not by reason only, but also by the heart.”
Are you ready and willing to accept the truth, the whole truth and nothing but God’s truth? Are you willing to make it a heart matter rather than a mind matter?
Are you willing to join with Henry David Thoreau and say, “Rather than love, than money, than fame, give me truth?”
Confucius said, “The aim of the superior man is truth.” Are you willing to be superior for God?
Today’s Prayer:
Father, may I vow to live by the truth, the whole truth and nothing but your truth, with your help and guidance.
