Without Faith It Is Impossible
(You Can’t Fix Faith – Faith Fixes You)

Today’s Thought:

“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”  – The Bible (Hebrews 11:6)

Today’s Quote:

“I am one of those who would rather sink with faith than swim without it.”  – Stanley Baldwin

Today’s Question:

Would you be willing to agree with this childlike statement, spoken by a young boy to Samuel Clemmons: “Faith is believing what you know ain’t so?” – Anonymous (from Mark Twains Notebook)

Today’s Bible Verses:         Hebrews 11:1-3, James 2:26 &  James 2:14-18

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good report. Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,  And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit? Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.  Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.

Today’s Spiritual Thought:

“Faith does not admit of telling.  It has to be lived and then it becomes self-propagating."    Mohandas K. Gandhi

We cannot become a Christian without some degree or measure of faith.

But to say we have faith is not enough.  We must let our faith live.  Faith is more than believing in or about something:  It is acting on that belief and letting those actions attest to and reinforce what we say we believe.

Here are a few thoughts on faith:

“You can do very little with faith, but you can do nothing without it.” – Samuel Butler

“Faith is not being sure where you’re going but going anyway.” – Frederick Buechner

“Faith is the strength by which a shattered world shall emerge into light.” – Helen Keller

“Faith is the opening of all sides and at every level of one’s life to the divine inflow.” – Martin Luther King, Jr.

“Faith is a commitment to the world’s transformation through God to a kingdom of justice and peace.” – James W. Douglas

With faith we can move mountains, we can overcome evil, we can live peace filled and joyous lives.

If you really want to please God, then you must profess your faith then live your faith by acting like you believe in what you say you do.

Today’s Prayer:

Father, with each new day may my faith grow and may my actions speak loudly to testify to the faith I claim to have.

“Real works are the natural products of faith taking its next step.”
– Paul Goodman
