Oh How Sweet To Be Forgiven

“Forgiveness is the fragrance the violet sheds on the heel that has crushed it.”
-       Mark Twain

The Lord our God is merciful and forgiving, even though we have rebelled against him.
Daniel 9:9

You are forgiving and good, O Lord, abounding in love to all who call on you.
Psalms 86:5

Surely it was for my benefit that I suffered such anguish.  In your love you kept me from the pit of destruction; you have put all my sins behind your back.
Isaiah 38:17

I, even, I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more.
Isaiah 43:25

As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
Psalms 103:12

When God does something, He does it right, totally and completely, without fault, error or mistake:  Aren’t you glad He is in the forgiving business?

We of whom much needs to be forgiven: have available to us the greatest degree of forgiveness and still I wonder how often we fail to avail ourselves of the optimum potential His offer affords us?

He has said if we will confess our sins: He will be faithful and just to forgive us with the qualifier that we too must be equally willing to forgive others.

How many times does His qualification that we forgive so that we can be forgiven keep us from experiencing total and complete pardon?

The Bible says, to whom much is given: much is required – this holds true for forgiveness too.

Are you totally forgiven today?

Today’s Prayer

Father, I know that I am right up there with Paul when he claimed to be one of the biggest sinners around: thus I know I require a lot of forgiveness: help me to be equally forgiving to others too.

Purify my heart
Let me be as gold
And precious silver
Purify my heart
Cleanse me from within
And make me holy
Refiner’s fire
My hearts one desire
Is to be holy
Set apart for You my Master
Ready to do your will.“
-  Lyrics from ‘Refiner’s Fire’ by Brian Doerksen
