How Well Are You Connected

“You and I must remain connected with the source of strength, our vine, Jesus.”
-       Corrie ten Boom

I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.  Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.  I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
John 15:1-5

Being connected is almost a necessity in our modern world.  Every where you go people want to know where the hot spots are for WiFi connectivity and if there is a free source of connection so that we can be in touch with the world and have access to the many offerings of our cyber lifestyle.

Yet, as Christians, we have free, uninterrupted and never out of range access to the greatest power, most optimal source of information and guidance and the source of all the answer we need to any of life’s problems: yet we don’t bother to get or stay connected.

Sometimes it appears some think the only true hot spot is in a meeting room on Sunday morning, and then and only then, if the conditions are optimal to our taste, desires and mood.

Sometimes there are those of us who find that there are optimal times for connectivity, as long as it doesn’t interfere with our plans or other activities.

Yet God wants us to be connected to Him through His Son, Jesus twenty four seven: three hundred and sixty five or six if it is a leap year: yet how much of our time do we spend disconnected from Him?

We don’t have to pay premiums: we don’t have to be concerned about download speeds and signal strengths:  all we have to do is open  our hearts and present our  minds and spirits to Him and give Him total access to our lives to be really connected to the greatest source of eternity.

So what is keeping us from getting really connected?

Today’s Prayer

Father, help me to not just get connected, but help me to stay connected to you and to depend on you for my source of all the information , direction and help that I need,

There is a candle in every soul
Some brightly burning, some dark and cold
There is a Spirit, who brings a fire
Ignites a candle and makes His home.
Frustrated brother see how he’s tired to
light his own candle some other way.
See now your sister she’s been robbed and lied to
Still holds a candle without a flame.
So carry your candle, run to the darkness
Seek out the lonely, the tired and worn.
Hold out your candle for all to see it,
Take your candle, go light your world.“
