Determination
What keeps you from accomplishing those things you set out to do?
For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day. Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
1 Timothy 1:12-13
Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:37-39
“If you can conceive it and believe it you can achieve it.”
- Napoleon Hill
Achievements, more often than not, fail to be realized, by those who give up, given in or surrender somewhere very close to the breakthrough point of when success will begin to be realized.
As Christians, often, we quit in frustration just before God is about to move on our behalf in a truly miraculous way.
This is why scripture calls on us to recognize our weaknesses and acknowledge our dependence on God to make the way where there seems to be no way.
It is not by our strength, intellect, power or might that we can accomplish great things it is rather by His Spirit in His Power and by His grace that most of our most noteworthy accomplishments occur.
We are called upon to have that degree of determination that only real faith in Him can foster.
Don Moen summarizes in the praise song, ‘God Will Make A Way’ the attitude, philosophy and belief that we need to maintain if we want to stay adequately determined to be pleasing to God:
God will make a way
Where there seems to be no way.
He works in ways we cannot see
He will make a way for me.
He will be my guide,
Hold me closely to His side.
With love and strength
For each new day,
He will make a way.
May this be our daily resolve and declaration of faith!
Today’s Prayer
Father, may I be able to stay determined without wavering; because in my heart I know all things are possible with You; if only I will believe.
