Your Way or God’s Way
When it comes to life, do you like to have it your way?
Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.
Matthew 16:24-27
“If all you want is a little Jesus to spiritualize your life, a little extra God to keep you out of hell, you are missing out on the fullness of the life you were created for.”
- Francis Chan
Far to many in the church world today are content with a Brill Cream experience when it comes to their relationship with God: they hold to the belief that ‘A little dab will do ya.’
Often, some who call themselves Christians only want just enough to get them by; but nothing more that will require any sacrifice, commitment or changes in the way they want to live their lives.
This should not be. As blood bought, redeemed children of the Most High God, we should be willing to say:
I’ll let God be God, let God be God in me,
My sole authority:
the God of all my hopes and dreams.
I’ll let the Creator create a clean heart in me;
I’ll let the Shepherd guide where I can not see;
I’ll let the Father provide my every need;
I’ll let the All in All be all in all in me;
I’ll let God be God in me.
- Kevin Walker and Robert Till (lyrics from ‘Let God Be God In Me’)
We need to stop expecting God to let us have it our way and we need to live His way, allowing Him to decide what is best, necessary and needful.
Today’s Prayer
Father, may I present myself afresh and anew each day allowing you to have your way and letting you use me in whatever way will accomplish your will.
