Be Satisfied
If you can’t get no satisfaction – do you think you might be going about the process all wrong?
In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)
John 7:37-39
“Jesus is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied with Him.”
- John Piper
I contend that satisfaction can not be found in the things this world would offer to us. True satisfaction can only be found in the power and presence of God, through the working of the Holy Spirit within us. And it is when we realize this; and we learn to find contentment and completeness in Him that He is honored and we are content.
We need to be willing to say:
Oh the glory of your presence,
We, your temple give you reverence.
Come to rise to Your rest and be blest by our praise
as we glory in Your embrace;
As your presence now fills this place.
- Steve Fry (lyrics from ‘Oh the Glory of Your Presence’)
To achieve full and total satisfaction, we must be willing to abandon ourselves to Him and all that He is and wants to be in us.
Anything less should always leave us unfulfilled and longing for more of Him.
Maybe the reason we find ourselves to be often restless, unfulfilled and always wanting something more is because we haven’t really yet learned how to let go and let God be all and everything in us.
Today’s Prayer
Father, I know I have not yet reached a place of complete and total satisfaction to where I don’t want more of you, your power and your presence in my life: I may not be able to reach that place until I see you face to face: but may I continue each day to draw closer to that place of total satisfaction in you.
