Pickin’ and Grinnin’

When the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream.  Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The Lord hath done great things for them. The Lord hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad. Turn again our captivity, O Lord, as the streams in the south. They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.  He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.
Psalms  126:1-6

“Human felicity is produced not so much by great pieces of good fortune that seldom happen, as by little advantages that occur every day.”
-       Benjamin Franklin

Happiness, joy, a feeling of contentment and satisfaction are commonly sought after but not always realized to the degree or extent that they could be.

Often we tend to associate these feelings with grand or great moments or events: yet happiness can often be found in the most simplistic and often ordinary occurrences or things.

Scripture admonishes us to be content regardless of the circumstances around us; and isn’t contentment a form of happiness?

We need to be more conscience as we pick those things that we quantify as capable of making us happy and we need to realize there is a lot to grin about in the most routine and rudimentary aspects of our daily life.

For example if we stop to realize and recognize each moment of each day just how much we are loved by God: that in and of itself should raise our happiness level tremendously.

To be happy we need to realize things won’t always be easy but we will always be blessed.  We don’t need to seek after happiness of a world kind but rather contentment peace, joy and fulfillment of a God kind.

Today’s Prayer

Father, when I loose my focus and begin to feel I don’t have anything to be happy about or rejoice over: please just remind me, that I always have You.
