Much Ado About Not Enough
And he [Jesus] said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.
Luke 18:27
“One cannot, as the Americans say, play every instrument in the band.”
- Elliot Paul
In today’s world, many if not most of us are learning how to do more with less. This is especially true when it comes to financial matters and seemingly often true with time management, as well as available resources with which to accomplish our objectives.
I have found that often when it comes to accomplishing things for the Lord less can often prove to be more, when God is in the midst of the endeavor. He can take our limitations and make them into exceedingly more than often is needed.
Jesus did this with a few loves and fishes.
Gideon did this with an army. In Judges, chapters six and seven; we have the account of how Gideon started out with 32,000 men, which God said was too many. This number quickly dropped to 10,000 which God said was still more than needed to accomplish the task of defeating the Midianites. By the time God gave His approval on the army troop there were only 300 men left. But what brought victory to Gideon and his little army was not their magnitude in numbers or even their skill in combat technique but rather the scope and depth of their obedience to God’s plan.
In our lives there is nothing impossible; regardless of the limitations we face or the lack of resources we may experience: if our endeavors are executed in complete obedience to God’s game plan and strategy.
If you are failing to accomplish the tasks you are endeavoring to do: maybe it is time to asses how closely you are following God’s plans, rather than your own.
Often we make much ado about not enough time; not enough money; not enough resources: but God is saying my grace is sufficient and my way will insure success.
The bottom line is this; are we willing to do it His way and succeed or our way and struggle or fail?
Today’s Prayer
Father, help me to never loose sight of the fact that your way is always the best way and your provision is always more than enough.
