Watch Your Step
The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.
Psalms 37:23
“The soul of a journey is liberty, perfect liberty, to think, to feel and to do.”
- William Hazlitt
The end of a journey is brought closer by each step taken towards the desired destination.
Who is there among us that would set out to go from point ‘A’ to point ‘B’ without first considering the best way to go about getting there. Most of us would have our G.P.S. fired up or if we are old school we might log on to map quest or google a search; but we would come up with a plan of action.
Yet, many of us embark on our spiritual journey without a second thought for were we might be headed, and we would give nary a single moment to reflecting on how we plan to get there.
Now, I know as Christians we are not always certain: of course beyond the final destination of our eternal home, where our life journey might take us. But we do have a final destination and didn’t Paul write and admonish us to press toward that mark for the prize of that high calling: to run our race and set our course?
We know we are headed for the physical presence of Almighty God, but have we actually taken time to consider the steps we are going to take on our way to getting there and how each of those steps might impact our journey?
God’s road for you is narrow and His path for you is straight: don’t you want to optimize your journey by taking every step He has planned for you?
Maybe we need to take a little time to talk with Him; to listen to His guidance to learn how to recognize the prodding and directives of His Holy Spirit so that we don’t miss a step on our journey to meet with Him face to face.
Today’s Prayer
Father, you are so merciful and have blessed my life so much; that sometimes I think I get lackadaisical and inattentive to the steps I take on this journey I am on: so help me to be more attentive and to allow you to choose each place I am to step along the way.
