Are You Lonely Tonight
or

You’ll Never Walk Alone

“Man’s loneliness is but his fear of life.”
-  Eugene O’Neill
Today’s Thought:

“The body is a house of many windows: there we all sit, showing ourselves and crying on the passers-by to come and love us.” – Robert Louis Stevenson

Today’s Question

Is your heart filled with pain, shall I come back again?
Tell me dear, are you lonesome tonight?
– Roy Turk (lyrics from ‘Are You Lonely Tonight’)

Today’s Spiritual Thought:

“The whole conviction of my life now rests upon the belief that loneliness,
far from being a rare and curious phenomenon,
peculiar to myself and to a few other solitary men,
is the central and inevitable fact of human existence.”
- Thomas Wolfe

“There is one alone, and there is not a second; yea, he hath neither child nor brother: yet is there no end of all his labour; neither is his eye satisfied with riches; neither saith he, For whom do I labour, and bereave my soul of good? This is also vanity, yea, it is a sore travail.  Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour.  For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up.  Again, if two lie together, then they have heat: but how can one be warm alone?  And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.”
- The Bible (Ecclesiastes 4:8-12)

“When so many are lonely as seem to be lonely, it would be inexcusably selfish to be lonely alone.”
 – Tennessee Williams

Have you ever stood in the middle of a crowded room and felt like you were all by yourself?

Many people have at some point or other in their lives.

But as Christians we need to remember that regardless of how dark the night or how terrible the storm and even if all our friends and family might forsake us - we are not alone.

God is always there.  He sees everything, He hears everything and He wants to be a part of everything we are going through.

It is not very Christ-like for brothers and sisters, in the faith to shun us or turn away from us, when we are going through tough times, but sometimes they do, but we need to be of good cheer and hold fast to the hope that we have in Christ Jesus, for we do not have to ever walk alone or face the troubles of this life in solitude – for He is always near, walking with us, willing to talk with us and even willing to carry us when we don’t think we can take another step.

“When you walk through a storm
Hold your head up high
And don't be afraid of the dark.
At the end of the storm
Is a golden sky
And the sweet silver song of a lark.
Walk on through the wind,
Walk on through the rain,
And you'll never walk alone,
You'll never walk alone.”
 - Richard Rodgers & Oscar Hammerstein (lyrics from ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’)

And he walks with me
And He talks with me,
And He tells me I am his own;
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known.”
- C. Austin Miles (lyrics from ‘In The Garden’)

Today’s Verses:

A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.
Proverbs 18:24

For the Lord thy God is a merciful God;) he will not forsake thee,…
Deuteronomy 4:31

Today’s Prayer:

Father, thank you that regardless of how it may seem, at times, I am never alone because You are always with me.
