Thought for Monday, January 30th

January 30, 2012

Dream A Little Dream

And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit. And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the Lord come. And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the Lord hath said, and in the remnant whom the Lord shall call.

Joel 2:28-32

Quotes of the Day

Happy are those who dream dreams and are ready to pay the price to make them come true.”

Today’s Thoughts and Insights

To dream is to envision the potential and possibility of what can be, even though it may not yet be.  It is the capacity to have hope and to believe that something bigger, greater and better is about to happen.  Dreaming is the beginning or the birthplace of many great ideas.

George Bernard Shaw said this on the subject of dreaming:  “Some men see things as they are and ask why I dream things that never were and I say, why not?”

As Christians we need to dream great dreams of the possibilities of what God can do in us, through us and around us.  After all isn’t faith the essence of things hoped for the evidence of the things not yet seen.  It isn’t exactly the same but it sounds close to the idea of having a dream.  Having faith the act of, believing: dreaming is the formulation of that faith into visions and expectations.

Without having faith we cannot please God and without vision or dreams for the future we will perish.

We have a big God – so it is safe to say, that we His people can dream big.

What are you dreaming about?

Today’s Prayer

Father, your more wonderful than words can describe and more awesome than I could hope to ever express.  Thank you for empowering our lives with your Holy Spirit and allowing us to dream big dreams of what you can do in and around us.
