Rescued
And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, Lord, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.
Psalms 9:10 (KJ)
God’s a safe-house for the battered, a sanctuary during bad times. The moment you arrive, you relax; you’re never sorry you knocked.
Psalms 9:9-10 (The Message)
Quote of the Day
“I lift up my eyes to the hills
Where does my help come from
My help comes from the Lord
My help comes from the Lord
My help comes from the Lord
Maker of Heaven and earth.”
Where does my help come from
My help comes from the Lord
My help comes from the Lord
My help comes from the Lord
Maker of Heaven and earth.”
- Don Moen (lyrics from ‘My Help Comes From the Lord’)
- (Based on Psalms 121:2)
Today’s Thoughts and Insights
“I need You Jesus to come to my rescue
Where else can I go?
There's no other Name by which I am saved
Capture me with grace
I will follow You .”
Where else can I go?
There's no other Name by which I am saved
Capture me with grace
I will follow You .”
- Russ Lee (lyrics from ‘Rescued’)
When we are yet lost in our sins and have not come to a place of acceptance of Jesus as our Lord and Savior – it goes without saying that we stand in need of being rescued.
Yet, often as Christians, when we fail to yield or surrender to God’s word, His direction and His plans for us – we too can find ourselves in need of being rescued.
There is very often the need to be rescued from something we have said or done that has got us into a difficult situation. Other times it can be our lack of doing something that should be done that will find us in the midst of turmoil or trouble.
Isn’t it reassuring to know that God is ever present, always faithful and never more than the mention of His name away when we need to be delivered or rescued from our own mistakes and choices?
Just as faithful as He is to reward those who diligently seek Him; He is equally ready and willing to rescue those who wonder or stray.
Do you stand in need of being rescued today? If so, call out to Him – He is waiting to hear from you.
Today’s Prayer
Father, faithful and true, forgiving and compassionate are you and for this I am so grateful. Keep me near and help me to recognize when I have wondered and be quick and willing to call out to you for a rescue.
“Help, I need somebody,
Help, not just anybody.
Help you know I need someone, help.”
[I need the Lord]
- John Lennon & Paul McCartney (lyrics from ‘Help’)
“Let my Lifesong sing to You”
- from ‘Lifesong’ by Casting Crowns
