Sometimes Veggies Are Better
Better is little with the fear of the Lord than great treasure and trouble therewith. Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred therewith.
Proverbs 15:16-17

Today’s Thoughts and Insights
If you have lived long enough to learn to read this – then you most certainly have had an opportunity or two to experience troubles in your life. It is probably rather safe to say that trouble is almost a guarantee that you can depend on encountering somewhere along the pathway of life’s journey
And while some trouble come to us through no fault of our own – have you ever wondered how many of our troubles we actually bring upon ourselves.
Often pride, overly zealous ambition, lusts and desires, or even ill conceived motivations can cause us more trouble than we can shake a stick at, so to speak. And often these troubles are a direct result of our own deeds and actions.
That may be why scripture advises us to delight in the Lord and to not give to much thought for the tomorrows for they will bring with their arrival – enough concerns and troubles of their own to keep us busy.
Maybe humbling ourselves before the Lord and seeking His will and His desire for our lives might help us avoid some of those troubles we encounter as well.
Certainly being out of the will of God can bring a big load of troubles our way.
For certain we cannot avoid any troubles or trials along life’s way but if we were content with less, more spiritually minded and less worldly inclined we might have far less troubles than we do.
Most of us enjoy a good steak – but sometimes settling for the veggies is a far better and wiser choice for us to make and will find us facing less complications and troubles in the long run, figuratively speaking of course.
If you find your life is overrun with troubles it might be a good time to step back, reassess how you got to where you are and what it was that got you there and maybe, just maybe it might be appropriate for some of us to adjust some of our ways and alter some of our choices and then we might find some of our troubles might begin to disappear.
Today’s Prayer
Father, you’re great and should be greatly praised. You are my shelter and my help in every kind of trouble, even those that I create for myself. Thank you! Help me to be wiser in my choices and may my ambitions and desires be more on those things of You that will keep me from troubles rather than lead me to them.
“Better never trouble Trouble
Until Trouble troubles you;
For you only make your trouble
Double-trouble when you do.”
