The Choice Is Yours
Now therefore fear the Lord, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye the Lord. And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
Joshua 24:14-15
Quote of the Day:
“Every act of will is an act of self-limitation. To desire action is to desire limitation. In that sense, every act is an act of self-sacrifice. When you choose anything you reject everything else.” – G. K. Chesterton
Today’s Thoughts and Insights
What choices have you made today?
Have you chosen to take up your cross and follow Jesus or have you decided to chase after a worldly ambition?
Have you chosen to die to self and live to Christ or have you decided today would be a good day for a me-day?
Have you chosen to surrender or resist?
Have you chosen to seek and serve God or to run and try to hide from Him?
Have you chosen to put on the whole armor of God, to feast upon His word and to pray or have you decided to run around spiritually naked with no food and no directions to get you through the day?
Did you realize that these are just a few of the basic choices we can make every day just to get our day started in either the right or wrong direction?
We can choose joy and peace or confusion and sorrow: we can choose to go it with God or to go it alone: we can choose because God in His divine love for us chose to give us the liberty and freedom to choose for ourselves, rather than to enslave us – He chose to let us choose to serve Him because we love Him – not because we have no choice.
He loves you so much He wants you to choose what you would rather do.
So the choice is yours. Is today going to be your way or will you make it His day?
Today’s Prayer
Father you’re great, glorious, amazing, fabulous, wonderful and ever so gentle and kind. Thank you for loving me so much. I choose you and ask that you will help me stay true to the choices I make each day – so that once I make them I won’t retreat, retract of fail to fulfill my commitment to serve you.
