The Love Connection

‘Give as Good as You Get’

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Proverbs 3:16

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing. Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never faileth:…   … And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.
 1 Corinthians 13:1-8 & 13

He that covereth a transgression seeketh love; but he that repeateth a matter separateth very friends.
Proverbs 17:9

Today’s Thoughts and Insights

St. Augustine stated, “He [God] loves each one of us as if there were only one of us.”

God’s love is so great, so amazing and so limitless that for us mere mortals it can sometimes be hard to comprehend.

Yet, even though we may not fully understand it – that does not diminish it one iota.

God’s love knows no height or depth no width or breadth; it is fathomless, unending and can not be confined or contained.

It is with this love that our Heavenly Father loves us: this same love brought Jesus from the heights of Heaven to the lowliness of earth to be born in a stable: laid in a manger; raised as a carpenter and to die as a common criminal on a cross for you and me.

We have been loved with a love that is so amazing – words do not do justice at describing or explaining it.

And are we not told to love our brother, sister, neighbor, wife, children and even our enemies?

When you think of what love we receive when we are but sinners deserving death and damnation: how can we then not be willing to love in return.

We need to first and foremost love the Lord our God with all our hearts, minds and souls and then we need to love each other.

If we could learn to love one another with half the love we receive from God: I dare say the world would most certainly be a better place.

Today’s Prayer

Father you are more precious than silver: more beautiful than diamonds: your love is priceless and amazing:  Thank you for loving me so much.  Help me to be as willing to love others as you are willing to love me.

“Love cures people – both the ones that give it and the ones who receive it.”
