Daily Thought for Thursday, November 17th

November 17, 2011

Be Genuinely Real

Today’s Thought:

“It may not always be pretty, but I’m content trying to be myself as much as possible.” – Mo Williams

Today’s Quote:

“You can succeed if nobody else believes it, but you will never succeed if you don’t believe in yourself.” – William J. H. Boetcker

Today’s Question:

“Do you know what you are?  You are what you is.  You are what you am.  A cow don’t make ham.”  – Frank Zappa

Today’s Bible Verses:          Psalms 139:13-17, Jeremiah 29:11-12 & Psalms 40:4-5

For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb. I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.  My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them. How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.  Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.

Blessed is that man that maketh the Lord his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.  Many, O Lord my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.

Today’s Spiritual Thought:

“The struggle to listen to and respect our own intuitive inner promptings is the greatest challenge of all.” – Herb Goldberg

Far to many of us take William Shakespeare’s adage that states: “All the world is a stage and we are just actors on it:” way too literally.

We often spend so much time and energy trying to be whom we think the people we are with want us to be that we fail to become the treasure that God created us to be.

As Christians our objective in life is not to please men, but rather to please God.

God created each of us to be unique and special and He has a special plan for every one of us.  How sad, that we often miss becoming the real man or woman of God that He desires us to be because we are too busy being the person we think others think we should be.

If we would stop pretending to be what we aren’t and started allowing the Spirit of God within us to develop us into the masterpiece God has in mind for us we would realize that we are priceless genuine real works of art, wrought by the Master’s hand.

So are you currently a cheap knock off of the original you could be or are you getting closer to the genuine original God desires you to be?

Today’s Prayer:

Father, it is not the approval of others I should want, but rather your approval that I need.  Help me to become the real genuine masterpiece that will bring the greatest glory and honor to you.

“How you react to people and situations – is the best indicator of how deeply you know yourself.”
- Eckhart Tolle
