Guarding Your Thoughts

Today’s Thought:

“”You are today where your thoughts have brought you; you will be tomorrow where your thoughts take you.” – James Allen

Today’s Quote:

“Man is not what he thinks he is, but what he thinks, he is.” – Elbert Hubbard

Today’s Question:

Have you ever stopped to realize this truth: “God designed the stomach to eject what is bad for it, but not the human brain?” – Konrad Abenauer

Today’s Bible Verses:            Luke 6:45 &  2 Corinthianss 10:3-5

A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

Today’s Spiritual Thought:

“You live your life between your ears.” – Bebe Moore  Campbell

Thoughts are often hard to govern and regulate.  Many times a thought will pop into your head and you sometimes don’t even know where it came from.

That is why we as Christians must often be more selective about what we expose our minds too.

It was a common saying many years ago in the computer industry among programmers that ‘if you put garbage in – you will get garbage out.’

This is true of our hearts and minds as well.

“Minds like bodies, will often fall into a pimpled, ill-conditioned state from mere excess of comfort.” – Charles Dickens

If we spend the vast majority of our time filling our minds with the perversions of the world – then we cannot be too shocked when we have thoughts of a perverse nature.

Yet if we spend ample time in God’s word and in prayer; we can expect our thoughts to be more godly and of a more appropriate spiritual nature.

“A man is what he thinks about all day long” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

The thing for us to keep in mind is that whatever we allow to go into our minds is often likely to be what will come out of our mind.  And those things that we give most of our attention to will be the things that become the treasures of our heart and thus will affect the content of what thoughts invade our mind.

Are your thoughts more of an earthly nature or are they more heavenly inclined?

Your control comes with what you put in – so in affect, to a great degree – the types of thoughts you have are open to your choices of influence.

Today’s Prayer:

Father, may I be more diligent and faithful to be put good things in so that the thoughts that come out can be good too.

“Think before you think!”
- Stanislaw J. Lec
