Trust and Obey

Today’s Thought:

“Trust and obey, for there is no other way, to be happy in Jesus….”

Today’s Question

Did you know, God views obedience as a greater thing than He does sacrifice?

Today’s Spiritual Thought:

Obedience is not a concept most of us like to embrace.

In fact, especially in today’s world, the more defiant, rebellious and extreme you are the greater the perception of your success might be.

Even as Christians, many think in terms of extreme sacrifices, radical hardships and excessive inconveniences as being the earmarks of true and real commitment to ones faith and loyalty to the Lord.

And indeed there is a place in our modern faith for sacrifice but what God really wants is our obedience.

Jesus came to be the ultimate sacrifice, but being a sacrifice was not His purpose; His purpose was to do the will of the Father.  To obey His father’s wishes, will and plan for Him.  Being the sacrifice for the sins of mankind was the result of His obedience, but it was not the motivating factor that leads Him to that place.  Jesus was motivated by His Father’s will.

As Christians we are suppose to emulate Jesus or strive to be Christ-like.

The example Jesus gave was one of obedience first, sacrifice second.  Shouldn’t we do the same?

See, “When we walk with the Lord, in the Light of His Word,” if we truly want to please Him we must simply, “Trust and obey for there is no other way; to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.”

Obedience usually requires effort, training and sometimes even discipline; but to have the Heavenly Father smile and say, I am pleased, is worth it, don’t you think?

So are you ready to do a lot more trusting and even more obeying?

Today’s Verse:

Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.
John 4:34

Today’s Prayer:

Father, in all I say and do, may my number one priority, focus and purpose be to be obedient to You.
