Living for Heaven in 2011- Start With Prayer

Today’s Thought:

“Sweet hour of prayer, sweet hour of prayer, that draws me from a world of care,….”

Today’s Question

Is a prayer a day enough to keep the devil away?

Today’s Spiritual Thought:

Living for Heaven in 2011 can only be accomplished if we make the commitment to have a viable, active prayer life.

A prayer a day will be enough to keep the devil at bay if it is done right.  Basically, it means we head the directive of scripture to pray without ceasing.

How do you do that?

It’s more about attitude, awareness and response than it is about saying a prayer 24/7.  If our heart is always in tune to God; our first thought and action in any situation is to speak to God and we really believe He is there, hearing every prayer, watching night and day, ready to send His answer our way, then we have embraced the ideal of perpetual prayer.

This does not exempt us from finding quality time to be one on one, because like any relationship that is going to endure and succeed we must communicate, commune and share everything together with Him.

Prayer has many forms and many purposes.  There are prayers of praise and adoration; prayers of thanksgiving and appreciation; prayers of intercession and supplication; prayers that welcome introspection and alterations; prayers for strength and help with wisdom, prayers that just say, I love you, know your there and am glad I am not alone.

We pray for many reasons for many things but the best way to pray, regardless of need or purpose is that His kingdom will come and that His will, will be done.

So may today find us all making greater efforts and stronger commitments to pray His way, every day, all day for things to be the way He wants them to be for us, in us and in and for all those around us.

Today’s Verses:

After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread.  And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.  And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Matthew 6:9-13

Today’s Prayer:

Father, help me to learn how to pray without ceasing, fervently, effectively and always for your will to be done on earth as it is in heaven.
