Help!

Today’s Thought:

“We are not primarily put on this earth to see through one another, but to see one another through.” – Peter De Vries

Today’s Quote:

“It is one of the most beautiful compensations of this life that no man can sincerely try to help another without helping himself.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

Today’s Question

Have you ever considered the notion that: “None of us is as smart as all of us?” – Ken Blanchard

Today’s Bible Verses:            Matthew 14:25-30

And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear.  But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.  And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.

Today’s Spiritual Thought:

“To get the full value of joy you must have somebody to divide it with.” – Mark Twain
The truth is that there is more joy in giving help than there is in receiving help, but no one can be an island unto himself or herself and there is not one among us who does not need help at some time or another.  And this fact applies not only to our physical lives, but is even more applicable to our spiritual lives.
As Christians, seeking to do God’s will and accomplish His work; none of us can make it through a day without depending on God’s help to get us through.  But we need to remember many times God will use those around us to help us accomplish what He wants done.
Needing or accepting help implies a sense of dependency on those who are helping.  And the reality is we all need each other.
God will not only use us to help others: He will use others to help us.  This help concept is a reciprocal concept and when we open ourselves to it, we will find it is a two way street.
First and foremost we should always go to God first; and then we must be open to Him allowing His other children to facilitate in helping with our needs.  And at the same time we need to be open to allowing Him to use us to be the helping hand that is needed when others around us have needs and face challenges.
“Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” – The Bible (Hebrews 4:16)

And let us also remember: “Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day.” – Sally Koch

It is important to both be a blessing so that we can be blessed; while also allowing others to be a blessing so they can be equally blessed.

Today’s Prayer:

Father, help me to be willing to give help when I can and to receive help when I need it.
