The Road To A Relationship With God
Is Paved With Prayer
Part Six
“The Right Time To Pray”

“We read of preaching the Word out of season, but we do not read of praying out of season, for that is never out of season.”
-          Matthew Henry

Is there ever not a good time for prayer?  Is there every a situation or a circumstance where a prayer would not be apropo or fitting?  It would seem that anytime is a good time for prayer.

As impossible as it is for us to take a breath in the morning large enough to last until noon, so impossible is it to pray in the morning in such a way as to last us until noon.  Let your prayers ascend to Him constantly, audibly or silently, as circumstances throughout the day permit.
-       O. Hallesby

My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.
Psalms 5:3

As for me, I will call upon God; and the Lord shall save me.  Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.
Psalms 55:16-17

At midnight I will rise to give thanks unto thee because of thy righteous judgments.
Psalms 119:62

“Prayer should be the key of the day and the lock of the night.’”
-       Thomas Fuller

Prayer should be as much a part of our daily existence as breathing is.

We should look forward to our prayer times like we do a sumptuous meal or a cherished or highly anticipated event.  It should be both at the highest point, as well as at the lowest point of each and every day.  It should be when we wake up; when we get up, when we begin to move around and on and on through out the remainder of that day: as well as when we lay our heads down on our pillow at night.

“Teach us to pray often, that we may pray oftener.”
– Jeremy Taylor

And we always need to remember the hazards that may come if we neglect to pray.

“When the knees are not often bent, the feet soon slide.”
-       Anonymous

“A day without prayers is a boast against God,”
-       Owen Carr

“Seven days without prayer makes one weak.”
-       Allen E. Bartlett

Prayer is vital and needful if we want to have a good relationship with our Heavenly Father: and perpetual and consistent prayer is needed if we want that relationship to always be all that it needs to be.

Today’s Prayer

Father, help me to always remember I am at my strongest when I am on my knees both literally and figuratively.

Give me your eyes
For just one second
Give me your eyes so I can see
Everything that I’ve been missing
Give me your love for humanity.
Give me your arms for the brokenhearted
Ones that are far beyond my reach
Give me your heart for the ones forgotten
Give me your eyes so I can see“
-  Lyrics from ‘Give Me Your Eyes’ by Brandon Heath and Jason Ingram
