Abundantly Living
To have abundance implies that you have more than you need. In short, there is an excess of what is required and that excess is what we call the abundance or overage, if you will.
So to live abundantly, or to have abundant life through Christ Jesus: means we have more than we need to meet the obstacles, challenges, and frustrations in this life and we also have on overstock of those things needed to keep us focused and humble when we are on the mountain tops.
“The life each of us lives is the lives within the limit of our own thinking. To have life more abundant, we must think in terms of {God’s} limitless abundance.”
- Thomas Dreier
Jesus therefore said unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep. All that came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them. I am the door; by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and go out, and shall find pasture. The thief cometh not, but that he may steal, and kill, and destroy: I came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly. I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd layeth down his life for the sheep.
John 10:7-11
We can live a life of sufficiency because, as Christians, we know a abundance has been provided by our Heavenly Father to ensure that we have what we need to be optimal for Him.
The question then becomes are we going to make ourselves available to Him and utilize the abundance of resources He has provided so that we can be here and now attempting to live for His glory?
Are we going to live with the knowledge of that abundance not afraid to utilize the resources He has given without hording and holding back? Are we going to walk in the faith that attests to our surety of His abundance or are we going to be skeptical that we will have enough to get us through and thus not be all that we can be to our fullest potential so that we can attempt to make sure we have enough reserves for a rainy day?
If we truly believe God has given us life and life more abundantly and we comprehend that His grace is sufficient to meet all of our needs according to His riches in glory: are we going to live like sold out, fully committed, no holds bared, no reserves held back and no restraints placed servants for the King or are we going to be half of the whole that we could be because we don’t believe God can provide enough for tomorrow to meet the needs we may have?
Are you sold out the whole route or are you just getting by with the minimal you think you must give to make you look good?
God has enough strength, love, joy, peace, patience, wisdom, discernment and anything else we may need for each challenge and each day we face: are we willing to use what He gives us and trust Him to give us more as we need it?
Are you ready to start living in the abundance of God?
Today’s Prayer
Father, you’re all I need: your grace is more than enough: your strength will never fail: your joy is endless: your love never is exhausted: your patience never worn out: your hope is beyond containment: your spirit is without limits: may I tap into the abundance of these resource so that my life can be all that it should be each moment of each day so that I can bring you an abundance of honor, glory and praise in the things I do and in the way I live.
“Give me your eyes
For just one second
Give me your eyes so I can see
Everything that I’ve been missing
Give me your love for humanity.
Give me your arms for the brokenhearted
Ones that are far beyond my reach
Give me your heart for the ones forgotten
Give me your eyes so I can see“
- Lyrics from ‘Give Me Your Eyes’ by Brandon Heath and Jason Ingram
