Call Answering

Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.
Isaiah 6:8

“No answer is also an answer.”
-          Danish Proverb

In our era of advanced technological capabilities, where we have call waiting, caller ID, instant message and all the rest; we have the capacity to be more connected and more communicative than probably any other time in the history of mankind: but this same connectivity does not always transfer into our spiritual lives.

I sometimes wonder if we don’t screen our spiritual calls by choosing to allow God’s messages to go to voice mail to be either picked up at a later time or ignored altogether.

We need to be aware though that when we reject or don’t answer God’s call:  our lack of attention to His attempts at communicating with us, are in and of themselves, a valid response.  In effect we are saying no or you’re not important or I’m not interested when we ignore God’s calls.

Aren’t we glad He doesn’t treat our calls to Him in a similar fashion?

When God calls, whether you want to take this as being literal or figurative, our response should always be the same: attentive, focused and willing to be responsive in an affirmative manner.

Advertiser’s claim that when ‘E.F. Hutton speaks – people listen’: but I believe, especially as Christians; when God speaks we should not just listen, but respond.

Are you taking God’s calls?

Are there any messages in your inbox or voice mail that need your attention?
And when He calls again; what action do you plan to take?

Prayer:

Father, when you speak, may I listen and when it’s time for me to respond: may my response always be, Yes Lord, here am I, send me.
