Don’t Miss It.
Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
2 Corinthians 5:9-10
“Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed up in overalls and looks like work.”
- Thomas Edison
The idea of laboring all day versus taking time to chill and relax is not a very difficult deliberation for most folks. The low key, taking time to rest and rejuvenate will win out more often than not. And, there is nothing wrong with taking time for renewal and refreshing; unless it becomes a way of life.
Unfortunately, when it comes to our spiritual labors, far too many Christians spend fifty weeks off and maybe two weeks on, rather than the traditional concept of labor versus vacation time associated with most labor related endeavors.
Christians need times of waiting and being quiet before the Lord, but we must be careful not to miss the opportunities to labor for the Master when we are afforded the chance either. I have met to many fine folks who have made a spiritual lifestyle, or at least a claimed spiritual lifestyle of waiting for the Spirit to move them and somehow it never does.
When we seek God’s guidance and direction we need to have those times of waiting in His presence for clarity and the impartation of His wisdom and empowerment: but once it is received we need to be willing to put the directions in to actions and get out there and get busy doing something productive and meaningful for the cause of Christ.
Don’t miss out on opportunities to make a difference for His kingdom under the guise of waiting on the Lord. Many times He is ‘knock, knock, knocking,’ on your hearts door, with opportunities galore: sadly only to find that there is nobody home.
Prayer:
Father, teach me when to wait and when to get busy so that I always hear clearly but so that I also don’t miss out on oppportunties to serve You.
