Let It Rain

Today’s Thought:

Neither rain or sleet or snow will keep us from doing what we need to do our going where we need to go.

Today’s Question

Have you ever really seen it rain cats and dogs?

Today’s Spiritual Thought:

Eeyore, the ambassador, for terrible, horrible, no good, very bad days, with his gloomy outlook on life would be among the first to say that into every life a little rain must fall.

But is this really a bad thing?

Rain after-all makes it possible for food to grow and for our water supplies to be refurbished.  So then, it is safe to say that rain is a good thing.  Of course most of us would prefer it in gradual doses and for short periods of time rather than having it pour down in a deluge with intensity and we certainly don’t want it to last for long periods of time. (like forty days and forty nights)

Rain is essential to he cycle of life both physically in the natural world and figuratively in the spiritual world.

Spiritually speaking, our souls need some showers of blessings and mercy drops round us to fall in order to keep well nourished and to grow.

Remember Jesus referred to himself as the vine and us as the branches and for branches to grow they need some living water to fall onto them.

Often we sing, of showers of blessings, and we ask the Holy Spirit to rain down on us.

We talk about the storms of life when troubles rain down on us in torrents and we know that we can make it through the storm because we are in relationship with the Master of the Wind.  Remember even the winds and the waves must obey His voice.

So whether we are in a storm of trials or showers of glory we need to walk on through the wind and the rain, holding our head up high, for we never walk alone.

Henry Ward Beecher wrote in (Proverbs from the Pulpit), “Rain! Whose soft architectural hands have power to cut stones, and chisel to shapes of grandeur the very mountains.”

What a spiritual truth this has for us.  Whether it is a downpour of tribulations or a blissful shower of blessings the rain of God’s provision can shape and mold and make our lives into something of beauty and glory for His honor.

So may the “Raindrops keep falling on my head” and may I boldly and gladly say to Him, “Let it rain. Open the floodgates of Heaven and let it rain.”

Today’s Verses:

Give ear, O ye heavens, and I will speak; and hear, O earth, the words of my mouth.  My doctrine shall drop as the rain, my speech shall distil as the dew, as the small rain upon the tender herb, and as the showers upon the grass:  Because I will publish the name of the Lord: ascribe ye greatness unto our God.  He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.
Deuteronomy 32:1-4

Today’s Prayer:

Father, I know you won’t let me drown and if I get all soggy and wet you will offer to dry me off, so let the rain drops fall that will wash away what doesn’t need to be there and that will shape me into being what you need me to be.
