Daily Thought for Wednesday, Febraury 2nd

February 2, 2011

(Today’s thought is not meant to be so much provocative as it is thought provoking.
So read on with an open mind and an open heart to allow God to do His work in you regardless of the source from which it comes.)

Rock and Roll and Religion (Part Duex)

Today’s Thought:

“I wanna rock and roll all night - every day.”

Today’s Question

If I could write the songs that would make the whole world sing, how would I get them to listen?

Today’s Spiritual Thought:

The Rolling Stones sang. “I can’t get no satisfaction, I’ve tried and I’ve tried…  But I can’t get no  - no, no, no, no, no – no satisfaction.”

What is satisfaction?

Is it not contentment, happiness, a feeling of meaning and value in what we do?

In short it is joy.  Scripture tells us that a man’s joyfulness prolongs his days.  And it also tells us that the joy of the Lord is our strength.

“When a man has lost all happiness, he’s not alive.  Call him a breathing corpse.” – Sophocles

If you have lost all joy; don’t have any happiness; and you can’t get no satisfaction, then something is missing in your life.  You need more of God’s power and presence.

The things of this world won’t give it to you.  They may give you a euphoric sensation of temporary happiness, but every drunk must sober up, every drug high has to come down and every vain ambition will eventually leave you empty and wanting something more.

Only the joy of the Lord, peace that passes understanding and Godly grace and wisdom will last.

So how do you get some satisfaction?   Delight yourself in the Lord and in the power of His might and rest in His presence allowing His Spirit to work in and through you.

Today’s Verses:

Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty:
Job 5:17

Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.
                     Proverbs 3:13

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
        Psalms 1:1-2

Today’s Prayer:

Father, may I have the music in me and may I never loose the joy of your salvation.
