Life is Like a Mirror

“Life is like a mirror and will reflect back to the thinker what he thinks into it.” – Ernest Holmes

Scripture tells us that now we may see through the glass darkly but there is coming a day when we will see the images clearly and we will see God as He is and we will see the fullness of our likeness to Him.  Won’t that be a great and glorious day!

However, metaphorically speaking with  a tinge of reality mixed in, the mirror of our life reflects the attitudes, actions and behaviors we present to it to reflect.

Our lives look like what we do; what we say and how we act.  Our life mirror does not show a visage that is what we wish it was but rather what reality is.

Do you ever look at the man or woman in the mirror and wish you saw something different, especially spiritually?

If you do maybe it’s time you considered a make-over whether it is extreme or minimal depends on how sincere, successful and committed you have been and or how determined you are to become all that God desires you to be.

The world is a looking glass and gives back to every man the reflection of is own face.  Frown at it and it will in turn look sourly upon you: laugh at it and with it, and it is a jolly kind companion.”
William Makepeace Thackeray

Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
Galatians 6:7

And he saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also? Do ye not perceive, that whatsoever thing from without entereth into the man, it cannot defile him; Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all meats? And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man.  For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.
Mark 7:18-23

If there is anything reflecting back at you when you look in the mirror of your life that is not what you would want God to see (realizing He already sees it) then maybe it’s time to make that change.

Today’s Prayer

Father, you are the image of pure perfection, goodness and all that is beautiful and righteous: however I do not always like what I see when I look into the mirror of my life because I know you don’t like what you see – so help me to change the image and become more beautiful in your sight with respect to how I live my life.
My life is in You Lord
My
strength
is in You Lord
My
hope
is in You Lord
In You, it’s in You
I’ll praise You with all of my life
I’ll praise You with all of my strength
With all of my life, with all of my strength
All my hope is in You
-  Lyrics from ‘My Life Is In You Lord’ by Daniel Gardner
