Made to Be Beautiful
For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb. I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them. How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.
Psalms 139:13-18
And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
Romans 10:15

Today’s Thoughts and Insights
I don’t know about you: but when I look in the mirror – I don’t necessarily see what I consider to be a movie star image starring back at me.
Yet in God’s eyes we are beautiful (or I suppose I should say handsome for the men).
Have you ever stopped to consider the intricacy of the human body? There are no seams, no zippers, no buttons or snaps: yet our skin encompasses our body perfectly and holds all the inner workings together. And if you are scientifically inclined and you are well versed in anatomy you understand even further how miraculously amazing the system God has made works together to keep everything functioning and working. Wow God is a generous! But then I guess we all knew that already.
So we are amazing in and of the fact that we were created by God and thus we are beautiful because of how amazing God’s work is: yet spiritually speaking we can be just as amazing and beautiful too.
One of today’s verses tells us beautiful are the feet of those who are willing so share and spread the gospel. Though I would go barefoot year round if the weather and appropriate social graces permitted – I do not think feet are in any way attractive. But God does. And more so God thinks the heart and spirit of that individual who loves, gives, shares cares and goes about doing His work and His will is beautiful.
Shouldn’t we all strive to be as amazingly beautiful in spirit as we are in body?
And even if we don’t think we are as beautiful or good looking as someone else: remember God is no respecter of persons and He sees us all as sinners saved by the blood of His Son, Jesus and what God calls beautiful – do we dare to disagree?
Today’s Prayer
Father you are greater, grander and more amazingly beautiful than there are words to describe you. And regardless of what I, or others may think of the exterior presentation of my physical countenance: may I live in such a way that they can see your beauty in my spirit.
“If you get simple beauty and nought else;
You get about the best thing God invents.”
– Robert Browning
“Let the poor man say
I am rich in Him
Let the lost man say
I am found in Him
Let the blind man say
I can see again
Let the dead man say
I am born again
Holy Spirit come
Move in power“
I am rich in Him
Let the lost man say
I am found in Him
Let the blind man say
I can see again
Let the dead man say
I am born again
Holy Spirit come
Move in power“
