God’s Escape Clause for Temptations
There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
1 Corinthians 10:13
Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word. With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments. Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
Psalms 119:9-11
Quote of the Day
“Men’s chief merit consists of resisting the impulses of his nature.” – Samuel Johnson
Today’s Thoughts and Insights
Often, it seems, temptations are about as plentiful as the air that we breathe. Most of us are bombarded with temptations to eat things we shouldn’t; say things that should be left unsaid; or to do things that would be far better undone.
To say being tempted is a common condition that plaques all humanity would be an extremely accurate assessment.
Yet, God has promised that in every temptation, he will provide a way of escape.
God has promised to never put more on us that He knows we are cable of enduring.
Do you, as I, ever think that God has greater vision and a higher expectation of our potential than we do?
Yet, I have never known God to fail, and His word gives us some insight in how to deal with the various temptations. Among the tools available to us are prayer and studying the Bible.
Often the way of escape is right at our fingertips and we don’t even bother to open the book to find out what God has to say.
While at other times we forget to pray and seek His face
Whatever temptation may come your way today, just remember; “God will make a way where there seems to be not way: He works in ways you can not see and He will make a way for thee.” – Don Moen (lyrics from ‘God will Make A Way’)
You cannot avoid temptations; but with God’s help, you can avoid yielding to temptation.
Today’s Prayer
Father you are gloriously amazing: awesomely fantastic and extraordinarily compassionate. Thank you for grace, mercy and your help as I journey down the highway of life. Help me to see your escape from every temptation that I face.
“No temptation can ever be measured by the value of it’s object.”
– Colette
“Let the poor man say
I am rich in Him
Let the lost man say
I am found in Him
Let the blind man say
I can see again
Let the dead man say
I am born again
Holy Spirit come
Move in power“
I am rich in Him
Let the lost man say
I am found in Him
Let the blind man say
I can see again
Let the dead man say
I am born again
Holy Spirit come
Move in power“
