The Motivation to Do

“Lord grant that I may always desire more than I can accomplish.”
-       Michelangelo

I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
Philippians  4:13

Often, I have found myself parroting the spiritual cliché that has become so prevalent in the church world: ‘God will not bring you to, what He will not lead you through.’  Least you think I have taken leave of my spiritual mind, please understand, I believe this statement whole heartedly, however, we must sometimes evaluate whether the task or project before us is a God lead us to, or a we just waned to do thing.

On the converse, I fear there are far more who call themselves Christians, who never open themselves up to the prospect of God leading at all.  These individuals prefer to be spiritually lethargic or in plan words spiritually lazy.

All God’s children are called to be busy, working and laboring; and yet by-in-large the greatest percentage of the work that gets done in any given church is done by a very small percentage of the overall church populace.

Have you, as I have, ever wondered how much more would get done and how much more effective we would be as a body if we were all motivated to do more than we think we can.

If more of us would get more motivated to let God lead us; fewer people might feel that they have to try to do things God might not be leading them too.

So what do you feel motivated to do?

Today’s Prayer

Father, motivate me to follow you: and in so doing I know you will empower me to accomplish what you lead me to.

I have a Maker
He formed my heart
Before even time began
My life was in his hands.
I have a Father
He calls me His own
He'll never leave me
No matter where I go
He knows my name
He knows my every thought
He sees each tear that falls
And He hears me when I call
-  Lyrics from ‘He Knows My Name’ by Tommy Walker
