Can You Say - Grace
“Grace is God’s radical acceptance of his children. And His decision – not just to save us – but to also sustain us.”
- Max Lucado
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Ephesians 2:8-9
Grace is that undeserved, non purchasable, seemingly unobtainable attribute kindness and act that we receive because of love and compassion.
We can not earn it, we can not be worthy of it, nor can we obtain enough resources with which we can barter, exchange for or purchase it.
We receive grace because someone loves us. Someone is willing to look beyond our faults and see our potentials and possibilities.
As parents we often extend grace to our children. As adults we are occasionally gracious to others.
However, regardless of the measure or amount of grace we extend to others: we can never match the limitless and boundless grace we receive from God when we receive His gift of salvation.
“Amazing grace, how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind but now I see.
Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appeared
The hour I first believed.”
-John Newton (lyrics from ‘Amazing Grace’)
Because of God’s grace the chains that bound my life are broken: I have been liberated from death and given life: I was hopeless but now I have the hope of glory.
Grace is a great thing, I know I don’t deserve it but I am so glad that God is willing to give it.
Today’s Prayer
Father, I thank you for your grace: I am so truly blessed because of it: and may I somehow learn to be more gracious as I journey through this life.
“I have a Maker
He formed my heart
Before even time began
My life was in his hands.
I have a Father
He calls me His own
He'll never leave me
No matter where I go
He knows my name
He knows my every thought
He sees each tear that falls
And He hears me when I call “
He formed my heart
Before even time began
My life was in his hands.
I have a Father
He calls me His own
He'll never leave me
No matter where I go
He knows my name
He knows my every thought
He sees each tear that falls
And He hears me when I call “
- Lyrics from ‘He Knows My Name’ by Tommy Walker
