What Will Your Legacy Be
Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
2 Peter 1:10-11
Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work be pure, and whether it be right.
Proverbs 20:11
And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
Revelation 12:10-11
Quote of the Day
“What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others.” – Pericles
Today’s Thoughts and Insights:
People like to be remembered, for the most part. No one likes to think they are so insignificant that others do not remember who they are or maybe what there name is. In fact, most of us invest a great deal of time creating an image; a persona; or some identifiable characteristic, trait or identifiable quality that will enable us to stand out in the minds and memories of those we meet or encounter. And often times these efforts are not always conscious efforts but they are present, just the same.
But I often wonder if we spend as much time contemplating our spiritual legacy and developing the imprint of what people will remember about us of a Godly nature?
We might be remembered for many things in the course of our lives: but shouldn’t our ambition, goal and desire be to be identified as reflecting Godly attributes and having a life resplendent with the Fruits of the Spirit?
What do you think people will remember the most about you? And at the end of the road when you leave this world behind you – what will your life-long legacy be?
Today’s Prayer
Father, you who are so faithful and true, consistent and caring: deserve so much more than I often give – yet when all is said and done and as I encounter people from day to day – may the first and lasting impression that they have be of your power and presence at work in me.
“Oh may all who come behind us find us faithful
May the fire of our devotion light their way
May the footprints that we leave
Lead them to believe
And the lives we live inspire them to obey.”
May the fire of our devotion light their way
May the footprints that we leave
Lead them to believe
And the lives we live inspire them to obey.”
– Steve Green (lyrics from ‘Find Us Faithful’)
“This is my cry: This is my song,
You are my guiding light, when the way is unknown;
And when the sunny skies, turn shades of gray,
I’ll stay close by your side: As you lead the way.
Jesus lead on I will follow:
Jesus lead on, let your love light the way… “
- Lyrics from ‘Jesus Lead On’ by Brent Helming
