The Changing Power
Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
Philippians 1:6
For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
2 Timothy 1:12
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
2 Corinthians 5:17-18
Quote of the Day
“Always remember you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars and change your world.” – Harriet Tubman
Today’s Thoughts and Insights:
Change is often challenging; sometimes difficult; but generally beneficial once the acclimations have been made.
Not many folks like change just for the sake of change; while there are a few who like change just because they get bored very easily. By-in-large though the majority of folks embrace change, even if it is sometimes reluctantly, because the knowledge that what does not continue to grow and change will generally stagnate and die. This is especially true in the context of spiritual dynamics.
As a spiritual being we should be in a perpetual state of change because we should be in a continuous cycle of growth and development as our relationship with the Lord grows in depth and intensity.
However, it seems that one of the places that the greatest resistance to change occurs is within the church.
Often, we in the church world like to hold on to those things that bring us comfort our familiarity and we are reluctant to relinquish traditions or embrace changes, even if those changes are for the good and would enable us to reach out more effectively to the non church world where souls are lost and dying and going to hell.
Sadly within the church we have often opted to insist that God can do what He wants to as long as it doesn’t inconvenience us or cause us any discomfort.
God, himself does not change but the history of His church is resplendent with His changes being wrought within the lives of both the individuals and collectively within the body of those who the believers.
Since we serve a God of change does it not seem then logical that we should be a people of change?
If we are following God and He is the one generating the plan and the vision to reach an ever changing world, does it not make sense that the way we accomplish His will might then need to be ensconced in change.
Yes it isn’t every easy, but if it reaches a lost soul, isn’t it worth it?
Today’s Prayer
Father, you are steadfast and true; yet as I read your word I see the way you have changed so many things in the manner, approach and way that you deal with humanity: help me to never become satisfied or comfortable in my idea of what should be the status quo when making changes in my life and in the way I labor for you will make me a more affective witness and vessel better fit for your service.
“People change, fashions change, and conditions change, but God never changes [He just changes others}.”
–
Billy Graham
“This is my cry: This is my song,
You are my guiding light, when the way is unknown;
And when the sunny skies, turn shades of gray,
I’ll stay close by your side: As you lead the way.
Jesus lead on I will follow:
Jesus lead on, let your love light the way… “
- Lyrics from ‘Jesus Lead On’ by Brent Helming
