Happiness Is – Knowing God
The Lord is far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous. The light of the eyes rejoiceth the heart: and a good report maketh the bones fat.
Proverbs 15:29-30
The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him. The Lord is their strength, and he is the saving strength of his anointed.
Psalms 28:7-8
The Lord is my strength and song, and is become my salvation. The voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tabernacles of the righteous: the right hand of the Lord doeth valiantly. The right hand of the Lord is exalted: the right hand of the Lord doeth valiantly. I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord.
Psalms 118:14-17

Today’s Thoughts and Insights:
Did you notice the significance of the title which implied happiness comes from knowing God, not just knowing about Him.
You can know about God: you can know of God; but when you really genuinely and sincerely know Him He will change your life in ways you can’ t even begin to imagine.
It has often been said you never really know a person until you have lived with them.
I wonder if sometimes the reason we aren’t necessarily happy is because we never really spend enough time with God so that we really get to know Him.
It has been said that to know Him is to love Him: and genuinely speaking if you really get to know the fullness and awesomeness of who He is: how can you keep from loving Him.
If you are tired of unhappiness and depression: get to know God genuinely and sincerely and you will find he is a friend that will stick closer than a brother: and you will understand true joy and happiness.
Today’s Prayer
Father, you’re the joy and the lifter of my head; you bring laughter in the storm and hope and happiness to every day that I surrender to you. Help me to keep my focus on you and to always trust in your joy and may I never cease to allow you to bring true happiness to my soul: help to always be getting to know you better.
“Happiness is having a scratch for every itch.”
–
Ogden Nash
“This is my cry: This is my song,
You are my guiding light, when the way is unknown;
And when the sunny skies, turn shades of gray,
I’ll stay close by your side: As you lead the way.
Jesus lead on I will follow:
Jesus lead on, let your love light the way… “
- Lyrics from ‘Jesus Lead On’ by Brent Helming
