An Ounce of Kindness Never Hurt Anybody
Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end. There are many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the Lord, that shall stand. The desire of a man is his kindness: and a poor man is better than a liar. The fear of the Lord tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.
Proverbs 19:20-23
But in all things approving ourselves as the ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses, In stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labours, in watchings, in fastings; By pureness, by knowledge, by longsuffering, by kindness, by the Holy Ghost, by love unfeigned,
2 Corinthians 6:4-6
Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.
Colossians 3:12-14

“Have a heart that never hardens, a temper that never tires, a touch that never hurts.” – Charles Dickens
Today’s Thoughts and Insights:
There is probably very few of us who have not been told, at some point in our life, that we should treat others the way we want to be treated. And what individual is there among us who does not want to be treated with kindness?
Yet, even though we know we should be kind to each other and we know that we want to be treated kindly: often we are less than kind to each other. In fact we are often harsh, impatient, inconsiderate and often even mean spirited towards one another. And unfortunately these types of behaviors are not limited or restricted to the secular world – they are often way to prevalent within the church among the body of Christ.
Lack of kindness is not restricted to the local church only and in fact it is probably more apparently discernible in the way we treat and interact with those who are part of the extended body outside our local congregation: though we can be a tad bit unkind towards those within the walls of our own church as well.
Since Jesus instructed us to love one another – I think to be anything less than kindly affectioned would be akin to disobedience towards God’s word, which in simple words is a sin.
Today’s Prayer
Father, you whose love knows no bounds or limits; and who gives grace, mercy and love so abundantly: requires no less from your children: yet sadly we so often let you down and disappoint you by the way we treat each other. Forgive us and help us to do better.
“ Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;”
– The Bible (Romans 12:10)
“This is my cry: This is my song,
You are my guiding light, when the way is unknown;
And when the sunny skies, turn shades of gray,
I’ll stay close by your side: As you lead the way.
Jesus lead on I will follow:
Jesus lead on, let your love light the way… “
