Who Is There Among Us
Who Has No Faults
Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.
Matthew 7:1-5
And he spake a parable unto them, Can the blind lead the blind? shall they not both fall into the ditch? The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master. And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but perceivest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Either how canst thou say to thy brother, Brother, let me pull out the mote that is in thine eye, when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye, and then shalt thou see clearly to pull out the mote that is in thy brother's eye.
Luke 6:39-42
Quote of the Day
“There is so much good in the worst of us, and so much bad in the best of us, that it ill behoves any of us to find fault with the rest of us.” – James Truslow Adams
Today’s Thoughts and Insights:
“The camel never sees its own hump, but that of its brother is always before its eye.” – A Persian Proverb
Amazingly it seems, that by-in-large, most folks have a far easier time identifying, labeling and addressing other peoples faults before they would ever recognize or deal with our own. In fact, some have said, it is generally that thing that irritates you the most about another person, that is probably a characteristic that is the most prevalent in your own life – but you just don’t seem to be aware of it. Of course this isn’t always the way of it, but it is still a truth that probably has some merit far more than most of us would be readily willing to admit,
As Christians we need to be more like David when it comes to faults and fault-finding. We need to present ourselves to God, asking Him to search our hearts to see if there is anything there that needs to be addressed and or changed and then we need to be willing to allow Him to do it.
There is not any person, other than Jesus, who has ever walked the face of this earth that does not have at least one fault and most probably have more. Realizing this: doesn’t it seem almost sensible that we would at least be as willing to address and correct our own faults as we are the faults of others?
As Children of God we should be; even if we currently aren’t.
Today’s Prayer
Father, you are faultless and perfect in every way. I know I have many faults and weaknesses: but help me to, with your help, be more concerned and focused on dealing with my weaknesses and more willing to allow you to deal with the faults of others.
“Almost all our faults are more pardonable than the methods we resort to hide them.”
–
La Rochefoucauld
“This is my cry: This is my song,
You are my guiding light, when the way is unknown;
And when the sunny skies, turn shades of gray,
I’ll stay close by your side: As you lead the way.
Jesus lead on I will follow:
Jesus lead on, let your love light the way… “
