Thought for Wednesday, May 9th

Do You Surrender
Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved. For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.  For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.
Romans 10:1-4
Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;  Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.
Ephsians 5:20-21
By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.  But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.  Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.
Hebrews 13:15-17

Quote of the Day

“It is not the mountains we conquer but ourselves.” – Sir Edmond Hillary

Today’s Thoughts and Insights:

To surrender, from a secular or intellectual perspective means to give up or quit: but from a spiritual point of view, it means something else entirely.

Spiritually speaking to surrender means to give in; to yield to or to submit one’s thoughts, words, deeds and actions to someone greater, more authoritative and powerful than we are.

In short, surrendering spiritually does not mean giving up but rather it means giving yourself over to the power and authority of God; thereby allowing Him to have the control and letting Him make the choices and decisions as to what direction your life should go.

Most of us are, by nature, somewhat resistant to the concept of submission, even to God: and then when you realize He expects us to surrender to each other and to those whom He has chosen and appointed to have spiritual authority over us: then that is another ball of wax completely.

God’s ideal is that we first submit ourselves, heart, mind, body and soul over to Him: and then that we submit ourselves to each other in His love; by His grace, with His power.

So are you ready to surrender to God’s way?

Today’s Prayer

Father, you’re reliable, dependable and trustworthy; you have so much greater wisdom and insight than I could ever hope to attain; yet sometimes I still think, somehow, that I could do a better job of running my life.  Forgive my foolishness and help me to submit, surrender and yield myself more freely to your will and your plan for my life.

“Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;”
– The Bible (2 Corinthians 10:5)

This is my cry: This is my song,
You are my guiding light, when the way is unknown;
And when the sunny skies, turn shades of gray,
I’ll stay close by your side: As you lead the way.
Jesus lead on I will follow:
Jesus lead on, let your love light the way…
-  Lyrics from ‘Jesus Lead On’ by Brent Helming
